The Iranian Regime Loses Major Funding

The arrest of Hussein Talib, the director of the oil products distribution company, is a seismic event that threatens and destroys the Iranian regime’s funding, which has continued for more than 20 years. Financial revenues estimated at $34 billion annually are smuggled to Iran, with only $1.5 billion going to the Iraqi treasury (see the Iraqi budget). All of this is done under the auspices and coordination of Ammar al-Hakim and his cronies, which is why he declared, “Take my turban, but don’t harm Hussein Talib in any way.” Furthermore, Hussein Talib’s arrest provoked the ire and condemnation of the Iranian regime, prompting it to send General Qaani with threats and warnings. With Hussein Talib’s arrest, Iraq regained financial revenues generated from investing a quarter of its oil production (one million barrels of crude oil per day) in refineries.
